Market Analysis

After reviewing a few articles written and studies conducted by women of color and educational institutions, I have come to the conclusion that the market for a product that promotes and encourages young women of color to explore various STEM disciplines such as computer science is very small, however the need is very large. The literature I have found analyzes the amount of women of color that are in computer science related fields and majors as well as highlight various women of color who have succeeded in these fields. There are a few well-known products on the market already that have a similar goal such as Black Girls Code, Girls Who Code, and Code 2040 to name a few.

Code Queens

The tech industry has very little representation for women of color and with my product Code Queens, I aim to bridge this gap. Code Queens will be an organization that aims to bridge the gender and racial gap in the tech industry by using early intervention to provide a supportive and culturally relevant learning experience. I believe that there needs to be an organization that provides support and encourages young women of color to pursue computer science related fields.
